Participants are briefed on the equipment used and assisted to put on a harness and helmet. Koinonia also uses the latest single rope technique descenders for safety and maximum versatility.

Vertical Challenge is now becoming extremely popular with groups and schools and involves harness and helmet fitting before equiptment usage briefing.

The giants ladder is 10 metres high and is a series of large horizontal logs attached to steel cables running vertically through the logs.

Undoubtably the most popular Koinonia Activity. This activity involves a rush of adrenaline with a 6m swing from the rafters in the chapel. With safety a
priority, everyone will enjoy this challenging and exhilarating experience.
In what is becoming a very popular activity, climbers are briefed on harnesses and helmets before climbing the 6m square pole whilst being belayed by the ground support team.
Canoeing involves a short walk to the Evans River where participants are briefed on the equipment used and are taught basic canoeing techniques and strokes.

Participants are given a limited number of resources including ropes and barrels and are divided into teams to design and then build a raft.
Students participate in a range of group challenges that focus on team involvement, leadership and initiative.


This activity can either build on skills learnt in Surf Safety & Practical Surfing or the Surf Safety component can be incorporated into Beach Swimming/Games.
The bush skills session provides students with the opportunity to identify the key necessities for human survival in the bush.


Australia has a long history of surf culture, however many Australian and overseas tourists do not understand how the ocean works and how to use our beaches in a safe, fun and environmentally sustainable way.
We are all connected to a waterway by what we put down the toilet, sink, on the gardens and down stormwater drains, accumulating in rivers, estuaries and the ocean.
This is an adventure activity conducted in the grounds of Camp Koinonia. Laser Skirmish retains all the skills and fun elements of paintball skirmish however it replaces potentially dangerous paintball weaponry with high – technology laser taggers and sensors.

For groups wanting to run their own activities Koinonia is ideal as we have two halls and a chapel as well as plenty of open ground located on the western side of the camp ground.
